Movie Review: The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)

The Autopsy of Jane Doe is a 2016 horror film directed by André Øvredal. Emile Hirsch & Brian Cox star in the film.

This movie really creeped me out! I’m generally desensitized to horror films but a few scenes in this one sent chills down my body. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is filled with suspense and morbid creepiness. The acting was superb as the two stars, Cox & Hirsch give brilliant performances as father and son characters.

This movie left me feeling dreadful and uneasy. Therefor I highly recommend.

HORROR COLLECTIBLES: NECA The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 7″ Ultimate Leatherface Action Figure

This is one of my favorite horror collectible pieces. The one and only Leatherface from the 1974 film, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” This action figure is made by NECA who does a fantastic job in creating action figures for some of the most well-known and liked horror icons.

The figure is 7″ tall with over 25 points of articulation.

This figure includes 2 interchangeable heads along with a cleaver, knife, meathook, mallet and chainsaw. What I love most about this piece is the blood splattered apron and chainsaw!

Movie Review: 8 Days to Hell (2022)

8 Days to Hell is a low budget horror anthology film with a serial killer theme. The film is directed by Shane Woodson who also stars in the film. 8 Days To Hell also stars Eric Roberts & Tori London.

Overall, it is what you would expect from a low budget horror movie. I personally love horror anthology so I rarely turn one down even if it appears to be low budget. Some of the stories are well done but overall I struggled to get into this film.

Horror Collectibles: 2009 Rittenhouse 50th Anniversary Edition Twilight Zone Trading Cards

Rittenhouse Archives is a company that publishes non-sports trading cards such as Star Trek, Game of Thrones & Doctor Who. They have published multiple Twilight Zone edition trading cards but today we will talk about the 2009 50th Anniversary Edition.

A few years ago I purchased an unopened hobby box with 24 packs, 5 cards per pack. The particular box that I purchased was 2570 of 4000 made. The box also promised 4 autographs inside.

After opening the box and packs and then assorting the cards I found that I was able to assemble the complete 79 card base-set. I then made a customized Twilight Zone 50th Anniversary three-ring binder to store the cards. I also received some of the insert cards but not enough to complete the sets.

As promised, I received 4 autographed cards. The cards I received were:
Barbara Perry as Blonde Woman in “The Chaser”
David Macklin as Bud Powell in “Ring-A-Ding Girl”
Linden Chiles as Hall in “Four O’Clock”
Cliff Osmond as Manolo in “The Gift”

Overall this is a neat little set. Each card has a different episode on the front and back which includes the episode title, original airdate and a brief episode description. In my opinion, this is a must for any Twilight Zone fans.

Rittenhouse also has an upcoming release of a new edition of Twilight Zone cards in 2023 with Twilight Zone Archives Expansion

Spooky Stories: Volume 1 – Metamorphosis

This is a story relayed to me by my dad when he was around 8 years old. My dad lived in a small house with multiple brothers and sisters. Him and his brothers shared one bedroom. One night as they lay in bed sleeping, my dad was awakened. As he cleared his eyes, he looked up to the center of the small room. He then witnessed a strange young man who looked like he was approximately in his twenties, standing in the center of the small room. Initially frozen, he mustered up the courage to wake up his oldest brother.

My dad and his brother both now see the man. Frightened and thinking it was an intruder, they pick up shoes by their bed sides and fling them at the unknown visitor. It was at this point that they realized that they were not dealing with an intruder but something supernatural instead. As the shoes they threw hit the target, they passed through the man’s body. Now the two were even more frozen in fear to where they just helplessly watched the figure.

As they observe, things get even more frightening as the man’s appearance starts to change. They originally saw him as a young man in his twenties but then his features changed to that of a slightly older man. His appearance kept changing until the figure’s appearance turned to that of an elderly man. The ghostly man then disappeared to never been seen again.

The next morning my dad and his brother told their parents and their siblings about the experience, but no one believed them. They would later move out of that house. To my knowledge that was the only ghostly encounter my dad ever experienced. He first told me the story when I was a child but I still get the chills thinking about it to this day.

MOVIE REVIEW: GIRLS WITH BALLS (2018)

Girls with Balls is a 2018 French dark comedy and horror film directed by Olivier Afonso. The version I viewed was dubbed in English so the lips don’t exactly match the words communicated by the characters. Sometimes that can be annoying, other times it can be downright hilarious.

This film has pretty low ratings on critic sites (3.9/IMDB & 42% on Rotten Tomatoes). Despite that I really enjoyed it throughout. The dark comedy is very silly and over the top at times but has a few funny one liners. I also thought the kill scenes were well done with some nice gore. Overall I enjoyed this much more than the average Comedy/Horror film.

Movie Review: Let Us Prey (2014)

Let Us Prey is a 2014 film Directed by Brian O’Malley & filmed in the UK. This movie has great visuals and is full of suspense throughout. Although entertaining and above average, this is not a movie I would watch more than a few times. However, I would highly recommend watching it if you haven’t already.
