Episode 4 of The Twilight Zone series is titled, “THE SIXTEEN MILLIMETER SHRINE.” This episode aired on October 23, 1959 on CBS. The show was written by Rod Serling and directed by Mitchell Leisen. The show stars Ida Lupino, Martin Balsam, Jerome Cowan, and John Clarke.
The Sixteen Millimeter Shrine’s central theme is “living in the past.” The leading character of the show, Barbara Jean Trenton is a former actress who spends her days indoors watching her old films, yearning for the glory days. In the end, does she get her wish?
Out of the four episodes I have watched so far, this was by far my least favorite. Although I wasn’t impressed with the story, there is something to be said about mankind living in the past instead of in the moment.
